4.6 Fertility, pregnancy and lactation Pregnancy There are no data from the use of Sodium chloride B.Braun 0.9 % in pregnant women. Similarly, animal studies are insufficient with respect to reproductive toxicity (see section 5.3). Given that the concentrations of sodium and chloride are similar to those found in the human body, no harmful effects are to be expected when the product is used correctly. Sodium chloride B.Braun 0.9 % may therefore be used as stated. Caution must be exercised, however, in the event of eclampsia (see section 4.4). Lactation Sodium chloride is excreted in human milk. Given that the concentrations of sodium and chloride are similar to those found in the human body, no harmful effects are to be expected when the product is used correctly. Sodium chloride B.Braun 0.9 % may be used during lactation if required. Fertility No data are available.
