4.6 Fertility, pregnancy and lactation There is no data, or insufficient data, regarding the use of flecainide in human pregnancy. Flecainide should only be used in pregnancy where there is a strictly defined indication, since flecainide crosses the placenta to the foetus. Animal studies of a specific breed of rabbit have demonstrated reproductive toxicity. Flecainide passes into human milk and appears in concentrations that reflect those in maternal blood. Flecainide should therefore not be used during breast-feeding. There is no data on the influence of flecainide on human fertility. Animal studies have shown flecainide to have no influence on fertility.
